Happy Anniversary (part 1 of 5)

The end of this month marks Dave's and my second marriage anniversary.

We do the romantic, special, precious gift thing on birthdays and Christmas. But anniversaries are a different kind of celebration for us. We're more likely to treat it as two teammates looking back on a winning season.

Me: "Remember that time that we were sick of the sight of each other, and didn't want to resolve it? The score was 0-0. The third period clock was winding down, you took the puck of communication and headed down the ice on a break away. The defenseman of indifference was tired from the long game and you easily passed him with a brilliant deke. Only the goaltender of bitter emotions seperated you from your goal. You wound up for a slapshot and the goalie completely fell for it. With him now completely committed to the left side of the net, you shifted to the right side and put the puck in with a feather light backhand!"

Dave: "And how about that time we were both stressed at work, and decided to take it out on each other. Somehow, both of those big, ugly defensemen, nicknamed "The Grocery Store and The Video Store" managed to get lined up and were directly in your sights. You started skating like a madwoman. Then, BLAM!, you checked them both into the boards with a ferocity that I've never seen before. You were lucky the ref wasn't watching or you surely would've gotten a boarding penalty."

We will, we will, rock marriage! stomp, stomp, clap stomp, stomp, clap

I've seen several blogs that list the things they love about their spouse. I thought that might be appropriate for our anniversary month. 50th - Gold, 25th - Silver, 10th - Tin, 5th - Wood, 2nd - Cotton Lists, 1st - Paper. Yep, that seems to fit. I mean, seriously, cotton? I don't think so.

I'll do five lists of ten. Here we go!

1) His second toe is bigger than his first toe, but he argues vehemently that it isn't.

2) He has only one pet name for me, and it isn't "Baby" or "Babe".

3) He plays hockey and takes it more seriously then most NHL players.

4) He does cross-stitch.

5) He has a passionate hatred of french knots.

6) He makes every effort to become interested in the things that interest me.

7) He's a voracious reader.

8) He goes to classic movie screenings with me.

9) He doesn't care about fashion (for me or him).

10) He's neat but not compulsively so.

More to come!

Comments:

I admire anybody who can press an analogy so far, and your hockey analogy was downright artistic.

But anyway, Congratulations!
Thanks Sam! When going with an analogy, it's best to see it all the way through. That way, if it's great, everyone applauds you. And if it stinks, people will at least respect you for giving it your all. :)
